Opening to "More Than Just Friends"

Here is the opening bit to my DQ fic, "More Than just Friends." Probably still needs editing, but I'm tired and I wanted to post a little of it to let you get an idea of what this story is about before going off to bed. I'm sure you have an idea from the title itself. This forces me to get it posted soon. If I don't don't this, then it will likely take me a long time before I get around to editing it. Here it goes. Let me know what you think.

“Olive, have you seen Sully?” inquired Michaela upon entering the mercantile.

“No, I haven’t seen him since he came in to buy some supplies some days ago for some trip he was going on. I think to do some surveying.”

“Oh. Did he said where and when he was coming back?” Michaela replied uncomfortably.

“No….He didn’t say. All I know I saw him heading south out of town. Knowing him, he’ll be gone for a couple of some days.” Michaela’s heart plummeted. Not really sure why, she tried to put on a smile and act nonchalant about it.

“Well, that’s alright. I just thought he might be able to check on the roof since it appears rain is heading this way. I’ll just have to wait until Matthew comes home tonight.” Disappointedly she sets out to leave when Olive gently grabbed hold of Michaela’s arm forcing her to look at her. And with an understanding knowing smile, she looked directly into Michaela’s eyes.

“Michaela, don’t worry. He’ll be fine and soon enough he’ll be back . Seems to me you really care about him.”

What A Trip!!!

WOW! What a trip. Ever had someone tell you your unedited piece of work sucks. LOL! Hello!!! That is why I mentioned it was still in the editing stage. I mean the idea I let her read it is for her to tell me if it is sounds like a good story not for it's grammar and that was all she was focused on, so I had to tell her than don't read unedited stuff. It was quite hilarious and I was like, is she for real? So I give her another more finished piece and she tells me it's much better, again only focusing on the grammar. I still have no idea what she thinks content wise on either of the story. So I wasted my time showing her my pieces.
And have you ever had someone tell you it's good, it's good but don't tell you why? That kind of review really doesn’t help you. Fine they read it. I am thankful of that and that they took the time to tell me they like it. They could still pin point in very little words what made them like the story. I guess that is why when I give feed back I like to get it and explain why I liked and even don't like a piece. And if I do come a piece I don't particularly like I will still comment and still point out good things. All stories have something good in them. Well, there was one fic I read I really felt was way off stupid. I got the impression they did it on purpose to rouse things up. So I didn't bother commenting.
Anyway, that particular piece of work still has much reworking to be done. I really want to post something soon so I should concentrate on the story that is close to finish, “Just More Than Friends.” I’m actually kind of excited about this one. I just hope my proof reader has time to look over it when she gets back from vacation and let me have it. HAHAHA!!!Mmm...I generally don't like snippets as to me that is such a tease. But I'm going to let you see a little of it just to be able to force myself to put it out, so as like a commitment that I better deliver the rest. HAHAHA!!!

Hectic Day and Writing

After a hectic day of 3 appointments to dash to, then going to my mother to change her dressing on her foot, I finally made it home to do a little more editing. Okay, for a long while I was stuck with part 3 of my Sunday series. So off I go to write some none DQ fic that started out as a true account of events that happened to me today as a way to vent myself, and next thing I knew, I start to exaggerate a little, then embellishing till out right lies. At the end I'm laughing because of my crazy exaggeration, so today didn't seem all that hectic.
Okay, I go back to my part 3 Sunday Series, just editing hoping to be inspire. That's when suddenly at the end, like a light bulb it hit me to tie it all up. I knew what I wanted; it was how I was going to be achieving it that got me stuck. But I got it now, and I should have that part done tomorrow than off to editing for any inconsistencies and grammatical errors. I wish I can catch it all in one editing session, but I have to go over it a few times to catch my mistakes. I just need a proof reader I suppose. (sigh)
